Duggan Cup side through to next round.

Newbridge won this afternoons Duggan Cup match against Lisheen springs GC. Although the result was 5 0 all of the matches were very tight with Lisheen all sq in 2 and down in one after 12 holes. But Newbridge realizing that they were up against it battled back in excellent style to eventually win their 3 home matches. Newbridge got the 1st match away with our 2nd match being called in while we were ahead. Well done to all.

Newbridge Home to Millicent GC in the Fred Perry Trophy

After getting a bye in the first round of the new GUI over 55’s all Ireland Competition we will Face our new neighbors Millicent GC in the 2nd round. This is a really busy month for Interclub and arranging the fixture so as not to clash or interfere with other teams preparations was Brexit like in difficulty.

As the Duggan cup is a similar age bracket we will work off the same panel with a few additions/subtractions. Our match against Millicent will tee off in both venues at 4pm on Friday May 17th. The competition format is fourball better ball match play with the low man of the match going to scratch and the other 3 players getting 9/10ths of the difference. Newbridge will have 3 matches at home, best of luck guys.

Open Singles this Weds

Afternoon folks, just a note to remind us all of the open singles taking place this Wednesday. Can members who make arrangements to play please put their preferred tee times up on the BRS. We all need to use the BRS for our open competitions in particular as visitors logging on seeing no names down for open events might get the wrong impression about our wonderful course. We are also losing revenue from people on their own who are looking to play in the open. USE THE BRS FOR xxxx sake.

Duggan cup fixture set

This season’s Duggan cup (over 50’s) Campaign gets underway on Sunday 12th May at 2 15pm in both clubs. Newbridge will be up against Lisheen Springs GC. Newbridge will have 3 matches at home. Lisheen will be seeking to rebalance the books after losing to us last year. Newbridge will be hoping to go all the way having made the semi finals last year.

Duggan cup opponents now known

Lisheen Springs emerged victorious in their 1st round Duggan cup match v Carton House this afternoon. Lisheen, the away team impressively won 2 matches in Headquarters to set up a repeat of last years tie which Newbridge won 3 2.
